A standard 2400mm x 1200mm x 12.5mm sheet of plasterboard is a bulky and heavy (approx 25kg) item of building material that is used to close off ceilings when fixed to the joists or rafters. It would normally take two operatives to complete this difficult task and at the same time expose them to possible long-term neck and back injuries. This can be confirmed by speaking to any working or retired plasterer.
The use of the ceilingboard hanger makes this difficult task much easier – to the extent that the installation of plasterboards to ceilings can now be completed simply by one person with little or no risk of injury to themselves and in a fraction of the time it takes two operatives. The ceiling board hangers are made in England of high quality, heavy duty zinc-plated steel for strength and durability. They consist of two matching sets of clamps – two joist clamps and two plasterboard clamps – one set attaches to the joists and the other set attaches to the plasterboard. The pair connect and create a hinge that allows you to walk the board up to the ceiling and hold in place with a T-Bar.
Fit the two specially designed clamps to the plasterboard at predetermined positions, then fit the two joist clamps in corresponding positions on the selected joist/rafter and then simply drag the board, elevating it at the same time so that the clamps meet and lock on to each other. The board is now securely held at one end by the metal clamping system. All that needs to be done now is to simply push the board forwards and upwards and support it at the ceiling with a “T” bar.
